Welcome to the Uniform Construction Code
In November 1999, Governor Tom Ridge approved Act 45 known as the Pennsylvania Construction Code. Under the Act the Uniform Construction Code establishes a Uniform Construction Code for the State of Pennsylvania; imposing powers and duties on municipalities and the Department of Labor and Industry; providing enforcement; imposing penalties; and making repeals.
The purpose of the UCC is to provide specifications in performing building plan reviews, inspecting building construction, alteration, repair, movement, equipment, removal, demolition, location, maintenance, occupancy or change of occupancy for every building or structure which occurs on or after April 9, 2004 and all existing structures that are not legally occupied.
Our office started administering and enforcing the UCC for a majority of the municipalities within the County on July 1, 2004.
As of January 1, 2008 our office is contracted with Guardian Inspection Services, a Bureau Veritas Company, as our Third Party Inspectors and Plan Reviewers.
